Summer Solstice 8K
June 21, 2008
Starts and finishes at the Mill House restaurant in beautiful Walland, TN. A challenging, out-and-back, hilly, don't worry about a PR, course.
The latest of the summer race evolution from Brew-Ha-Ha to Midsummer Nights, we believe we've found a permanent home, to include some improvements. No more miserable sweating in July, now you can sweat "pleasantly" in June! Of course it was always a great race and some things can't be improved...there's still beer at the finish line!
Celebrate the longest day of the year with the longest KTC post-race party. Barbeque provided by the Mill House Restaurant, a choice selection of microbrews from Cherokee Distributing, and good times by your fellow KTC members.
Detailed Course Description: From the top of the Millhouse Restaurant parking area run down the hill and take a left on Old Walland Highway. After 0.15 miles, take the first left on Cold Springs Road. Continue for approximately a mile and a half over a series of quarter-mile hills until intersecting with Blair Loop Road. Bear left on the unmarked road toward Twin Valley Ranch and Cold Spring Baptist Church. The road falls downhill for 0.3 miles, where it turns 90 degrees to the left, and then continues in a gentle downhill for another 0.4 miles to a T-intersection. Take a left at this intersection for 0.1 mile to the turnaround. Come back over the same course.
The course is hilly throughout, particularly the first mile after the turnaround and the finish up into the Millhouse parking lot.
