A fixture from the road racing heyday of the 1990's, when dozens of competitors battled this lightning quick course at sub-5:00 pace, the Pigeon Forge Midnight 8k combines the uniqueness of a midnight starting time with racing down the middle of the divided boulevard in the brightly lit neon jungle of Pigeon Forge.
The course is as flat and fast as they come, almost guaranteeing personal best times for most competitors. Former Race Director David Morris returns to the helm and, along with an all-star cast of KTC volunteers, promises a great race, one that earns top runners points in the KTC Grand Prix of Road Racing and counts toward the Team Competition Grand Prix, as well as being the RRCA Southern Region Championship 8k Race.
Weather
Averages: High 88 Low 66.
Although the race
starts at midnight, unless a rogue Canadian cold front leaches through, racers
will be combatting thick, stultefying humidity and very warm temps even at that
late hour. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Dress as minimally as you can.
