Hard Knox Pizza Dogwood Classic

Date, Time, and Place: Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 8:00 am on Cherokee Boulevard (middle lot -1600 Cherokee Boulevard).

Course Description and Highlights: USATF Certified. Loop course on Cherokee Boulevard beginning at ending at the middle parking lot. 

Registration & Entry Fee (NO REFUNDS OR BIB TRANSFERS): Cost for ages 17 and under is $15 through April 25 then $30 for late and race day regsistration. Cost for ages 18 and over is $20 through February 28 then $25 from March 1 to April 25. Cost is $30 for late and race day registration. An optional packet pickup will be held at Academy Sports & Outdoors and date and time will be announced soon. Race day registration available in the race tent from 6:30—7:45 am. 

T-shirts: Unisex sized, short-sleeved t-shirts for registrants. Pre-registered (through April 16) runners will receive them at early packet pick or on race day. Please note our new shirt policy: Anyone registering after April 16 will receive shirts while supplies last. The shirt order will be placed on April 17 and when the inventory runs out in the RunSignUp system then there will be no more shirts. No re-orders. 

Awards: Awards to the Top 3 Overall, top Masters (40+), top Grandmasters (50+), and Senior Grandmasters (60+) Male and Females. Awards to the top 3 Clydesdale (Male = 200 lbs. +) and Athena (Female = 150 lbs. +). Age division awards will run three deep as well and are in 5-year increments except for the 14 and Under and the 85+ categories. Overall winners not eligible for age division awards. Awards are based on gun time and not chip time per USATF regulations.

Grand Prix Points and Team Competition: The Dogwood Classic is on the 2017 Team Competition schedule. 2017 Grand Prix Points awarded for overall, masters, grandmasters, senior grandmasters, clydesdale, athena, and age group categories. Grand Prix point are awarded to winners in these categories and points accumulate throughout the year. KTC recognizes the top 10 men and women in the Grand Prix series at the New Year’s Day 5K on January 1, 2018. Remember, to be eligible for Grand Prix Points, participants must be a member of KTC and must volunteer for at least 3 KTC races throughout the year.

Post Race Refreshments: Assorted refreshments will be provided post race in the event tent. 

Race Etiquette: Due to insurance regulations, roller blades, strollers, bicycles, and dogs are not allowed on the course. The 5K course closes in 1 hour and 15 minutes. KTC discourages the use of headphones at events.

KTC Safety Policy: KTC’s mission is to encourage lifelong physical well-being through running and walking. That is accomplished through a variety of events and programming.

The Knoxville Track Club puts the safety of its participants, spectators, staff and volunteers first. Dangerous weather conditions pose a unique challenge to an event of any size, distance or location.

Therefore, KTC has adopted the following Inclement Weather Policy:

Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event, with special attention placed on the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds, extreme temperatures and humidity. If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these conditions on Knoxville Track Club’s website (www.ktc.org), as well as through other available means of communication such as e-mail, Twitter, Facebook and public address announcements.

The Executive Director and Race Director in consultation, when available, with law enforcement, fire/EMS, other medical officers and other officials, will monitor the weather and make a decision if any action will be taken to modify the race. Possible changes include: Altering the start time, altering the course, or in extreme situations cancellation of the event. Visible lightning occurring within 30 minutes of the scheduled start will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 30 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 30-minute increments up to a maximum of 3 delays.
Race personnel reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race or modify the course due to inclement weather. As stated on registration and race pages, there are no refunds or transfers. Participants must abandon the race if ordered to do so by the race personnel, medical staff, fire/paramedics or police personnel.
