BlueCross Autumnfest 8k
Thursday, November 26, 2009

On a beautiful fall day the Knoxville Track Club presented its annual Autumnfest 8k in conjunction with BlueCross Blue Shield of Tennessee.
Nearly a thousand runners blasted off the starting line.
It took a long time for the huge throng to clear the parking lot.
Fast runners as well as midpackers hit the streets to test themselves on the flat, fast 8k distance.
Runners continued to stream past.
While the racers were out on the course, the stalwart KTC finish line crew put together everything needed for a fine finish.
At the finish, perennial frontrunner Stewart Ellington was nudged by 22-year old Mike Deran, who blazed by the camera so fast he blurred the image.
Ethan Coffey pushed Ellington, finishing in third place just a few seconds back.
Keith Gemeinhart was top male masters.
Bob Barber claimed first place in the grandmasters division.
Leah Soro easily outdistanced her competition to earn the overall female victory.
Female runner up was Marsha Morton.
Second place women's masters was Laura Gearhiser.
Emily O'Bryant finished third masters.
Doris Windsand-Dausman was awarded first place female grandmasters.
The Knoxville Track Club would like to wish all a very happy holiday season and thank you for your support during 2009. We look forward to seeing everyone on the first day of 2010 at the Calhouns New Year's Day 5k.
