Calhouns Ten-Miler
Saturday, January 26, 2008

The rolling hills of Loudon and West Knox Counties played host to the annual Calhouns Ten-Miler, staged and managed by the Knoxville Track Club.
The gun sounded promptly at 8:00 am, sending runners into a furious frenzy of pounding feet and burning lungs.
The front pack rocketed away at a blazing pace.
Three hundred runners contested the ten-mile distance.
Soon the large crowd thundered off into the distance.
Fast runners from Team Runners Market and EBS Team Racing led the way.
At the nine-mile mark, former UT teammates Ben Lukowski and Andy Baksa crested the monster hill, dueling for the victory.
Both men checked their watches and prepared for the final decisive mile.
They pushed hard up the final grade and Lukowski (yellow singlet) held off Baksa to claim the title.
Stewart Ellington ran hard to take third place overall.
Jon Lawler was the best men's masters runner.
Bob Barber was tops in the grandmasters division.
Taylor Poling sped away from her competitors to earn the prize for top overall female.
Andee Cranford, winner of the 2006 Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon, claimed honors as female runner-up.
Jasmin Keller ran a very strong final mile to outrun two competitors and was third overall female.
First place female masters runner was Marsha Morton.
