Wears Valley 15K
Sunday, September 17, 2006

It was a cool and foggy morning as the KTC faithful assembled in Townsend for the annual running of the Wears Valley 15K road race.
A stalwart crew of volunteers were on hand to register the runners.
KTC President Joe Jackson asnwers a question from an interested runner.
Out on the course, race director Pam Parkinson is also answering questions.
She then gets together with her braintrust to ensure that final preparations are ready for the race.
The assemblage stands at attention for our National Anthem.
Then the moment for which everyone was waiting arrived, and the racers burst into action.
Fifty-two minutes later, Tim Kelly, running only his second race for Runners Market, broke the tape to claim the win.
Kelly's teammate Joseph Goetz was second overall.
Greg Johnson came in third to complete the 1-2-3 sweep.
Kathy Wolski won her second KTC race in eight days by outdistancing Gen Barrett for the victory.
Barrett ran well to take second overall.
Marsha Morton was third overall.
Tom Dever was first masters male.
Beth Rice was awarded top masters female.
Bob Barber (who else?) claimed veterans honors.
It's a long and winding road through the Carr Creek Valley, and it always feels good to get near the end.
The Little River continues to make its way implacably toward its confluence with the Tennessee, just as we runners make our way further on down the road.  See you next year at the Wears Valley 15K road race.
