Carter Mill 10K
July 9, 2005

It was just getting full light out as a record crowd of runners assembled for the annual Knoxville Track Club Carter Mill 10K.
An ace crew of volunteers had gathered to ensure a highly successful race.
Race director Ron Fuller gave last minute instructions to the gathered throng.
As the sound of the starter's pistol resounded through the quiet little valley, the racers exploded into motion.
Everyone was wondering if Eric's EBS singlet was in the laundry.
A Knox County Sheriff's Department vehicle followed the long line of runners to protect their safety.
Just over half an hour later, Bobby Holcombe eased across the finish line for his third Carter Mill victory in the last four years.
He was followed a minute and a half later by last year's winner, Eric Vandervort.
Masters ace Phil Roberts (yellow singlet) was third overall.
The sensational Bob Barber continued his amazing string of outstanding performances, winning the grandmasters title handily.
The tireless Bruce Fox was top veterans runner at Carter Mill.
Johnna French (far left) took the women's overall crown, her fourth KTC race victory of the year.
Marsha Morton was second overall female in the 10K.
Betty Schohl (white & red singlet) took the overall grandmasters title.
Cornelia Porter won the women's Athena division.
These two guys are enjoying that fast downhill final mile.
The stalwarts at the finish line were willing and able to handle anything that came their way.
Everyone gathered around in the sunshine for the awards ceremony.
Race director Ron Fuller did his usual bangup job and had a lot of fun in the process.  With this race, the Knoxville Track Club concludes another highly successful Grand Prix season, and we invite you to join us again next year as the KTC brings you the best series of races in the southeast.
