Big South Fork Trail Race
Saturday, October 1 2005

The natural splendor of the Big South Fork National Recreation Area was the setting for the Knoxville Track Club's annual pilgrimage for the 17 mile trail race on October 1st.
As usual, runners from all over the southeast descended upon Big South Fork for the annual race.
Hundreds of talented trailsters milled about waiting for the race to begin.
Finally, in the low slanting light of the rising sun, the big race commenced.
Less than two hours later, Scott Wolfe of Asheville NC came bursting out of the woods to claim victory.
Nashville's Josh Beckham was second.
One of KTC's top trail dogs, Barry Lucas of Maryville, was third overall.
Patricia Williams-Smith was the repeat women's champion.
Gen Barrett was second woman.

Marvelous volunteers are always a key to the success of a great race.
A wonderful dinner was served after the race.
As always, Big South Fork was a wonderful family event enjoyed by kids of all ages.
