Wears Valley 15K
September 19, 2004

It was a cool and foggy morning as the KTC faithful assembled in Townsend for the annual running of the Wears Valley 15K.

The temps stood at 49 degrees.
Bill Kleber and Lou Ann Magden appear to be a-shiverin' in the cold.
The Big Red was on hand, as Elijah Shekinah, poised for a PR, Joe Goetz and eventual winner Bobby Holcombe pose in their new uniforms.
Rookie race director Pam Parkinson talks over last minute details with new KTC ED Marshall Myer and his predecessor Allan Morgan.
A fine flock of fit runners await the gun.
It's the Big Yellow against the Big Red!
Marshall fires the gun and they're off!
Less than 15K to go!
Bobby Holcombe led all the way to claim the victory.
Geno Phillips was second overall.
A huge PR by Elijah Shekinah enabled him to take third overall.
Marsha Morton was the top woman finisher in this year's race.
Speedy Kelly Darnell was second female.
Third place went to ace trail runner Patricia Williams.
Beverly Leamon was top masters.
Becca Fuller was the leading female grandmasters runner.

Along with Holcombe, Shekinah and Phillips and Joe Goetz 1-2-3-4 finish, Mike Wortley finished fifth to complete a top 5 sweep for team Runners Market.
John Smyth's Team EBS made a good showing, as usual.
The old barn near the four mile mark never seems to age.
It was a great race; no bull.

See you next time at the Wears Valley 15K!
