Smoky Mountain Half Marathon / 5K
Saturday, March 20, 2004

An early rain shower didn't dampen spirits of the more than 300 runners who toed the line on March 20 for the Smoky Mountain Half Marathon / 5K.
Race directors Teri Stephens and Tracy Rafferty had things well in hand and didn't have to shoot anyone.
Three miles into the race, there was no doubt as to the eventual winner.
By himself in second place was Eric Vandervort.
Third place went to Seth Ellis.
Fourth was Daniel Julian.
Rita Mehta pulled away from her competition to claim the women's title.
Cruising easily, Betty Schohl took a break from her record crunching streak and still finished third overall.
Some finished with a bit more spring i their step than others, but everyone gave an outstanding effort on a delightful morning in the shadow of the Smokies.
And the road winds ever on..... See y'all next year for the KTC's annual Smoky Mountain Half Marathon!
