Once again the Best Western Valley View Lodge was our gracious host as the Knoxville Track Club presented the Smoky Mountain Marathon and Half Marathon, as hundreds of runners congregated on a gorgeous spring morning.  Unfortunately, our regular KTC shutterbug was 2000 miles away at a funeral, so Brint Adams stepped in and snapped several dozen photos, most of which are presented here sans caption.  With apologies to Rod Stewart, every picture tells a story, don't it?

When the dust had settled, Melanie Cox was the overall female champion of the Smoky Mountain Marathon, running 3:16:58.  Lance Winders of Mansfield TN was the first male finisher, breaking the nonexistent tape in a fine 2:37:49, twenty minutes ahead of his nearest challenger.
Martin Irving of Roanoke VA (1:21:15) and KTC's Marsha Morton of La Follette (1:30:26) were the top half marathoners of the day.
And, as munchies were devoured and stories swapped, another Smoky Mountain Marathon fades into the history books.  Please join KTC's finest next year as we renew our battle with the Smoky Mountain Marathon and Half Marathon.
