KTC Team Competition Guidelines and Policies
The KTC Grand Prix Team Program is a series of races in the Knoxville area. Teams compete under uniform rules and qualify for race and year-end awards and recognition. Divisions for the 2010 season are Open, Womens, and Corporate.
Eligibility
Open No restrictions. Teams can be all male, all female, or co-ed. A female may not compete in the Open Division and Womens Division in the same race.
Women
Restricted to female runners.
Corporate Employees (full and part-time),
and family members including spouses, children, parents, and siblings of full-time
employees (30 hours or more) are eligible to compete for a company.
Scoring for Open and Womens
For all Open and Womens races, each teams score will be determined by the cumulative times of their top four runners for Open teams and top three runners for Womens teams.
Scoring for Corporate Teams
For Corporate Team Events, scoring will be determined by cumulative times of their top four runners plus 1 point for every 10 participating team member over the four that scored. Example, if a team is 1st then they will receive 5 points. If they have 14 team members participate then they will receive 1 point giving them 6 total points for that particular event.
Registration
All team members must pre-register and make sure they include the name of their team on the entry form. It is preferred that Team Captains send all forms together to avoid confusion for KTC staff. To confirm their race roster, Team Captains are encouraged to contact the data entry person for each race as well as the Team Competition Coordinator on the pre-registration deadline. Team Rosters must be submitted and final four days from the event.
If a runner is found not to be registered, and the scoring person is notified by the pre-registration deadline, the runner can be added to the roster provided he or she has been on the team before or had their name added to the roster via email prior to registering them. These updates shall also be sent to the Team Competition Coordinator.
No changes of any kind will be permitted on race day. All team members must pick up their bib numbers at the pre-registration table. If it is not found, do not re-register. Runners will need to see their Team Captain and the Data Entry person to resolve the situation.
Awards
Only the top teams will
earn awards in each division at each individual qualifying event for Open, Womens,
and Corpora
KTC Grand Prix Team Competition Awards for the top four overall
teams in each division will be presented at the New Years Day Race. The
Eddie Reymond Cup and the Womens Cup will rotate yearly. The winning Corporate
Team will receive a trophy each year. Other winners will receive plaques.
Point totals for the Grand Prix Team Competition Awards for all divisions will be based on 11 of 13 scores from any or all of the team races in the Open and Womens Divisions. Points are awarded in each division at each qualifying event as follows: 1st = 5 pts, 2nd = 4 pts, 3rd = 3 pts, 4th = 2 pts. For Corporate Team Events, scoring will also be determined by cumulative times of their top four runners plus 1 point for every 10 participating team member over the four that scored.
Volunteering
Team Captains and Members are encouraged to volunteer for Knoxville Track Club events or to assist KTC Staff at Non-KTC races. Volunteers will receive a $5 coupon good toward entry fee of any KTC race except the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon or merchandise or t-shirts. Volunteer time can be done before, during, or after KTC events. For Non-KTC races, volunteer time is spent at the finish line. To volunteer, please contact KTC at knoxvilletrackclub@gmail.com.
Results
Results will be posted for each individual race on the KTC Website.
